As inflation and shrinkflation left diners craving more, Carl’s Jr. stepped in with a couple of giant burgers that gave the people what they wanted. After launching the double beef, Cali XL on TV, we went one step further with the “Sad Mac Buy Back”, a promotion that allowed customers to swap their Golden Arches receipt (and small burger disappointment) for something better – a free Cali XL.
And, if a free Cali XL wasn’t enough, we doubled down with a free Hangover burger the day after the Super Bowl with a spot that only Carl’s could pull off, revealing that the best “F word” is actually “Free”.
